What is needed? |
  |
ProTracSys
uses a collection of both hardware and software as part of their
web-based solution.  What is needed can vary based on the user's needs
and available resources.  Compiled below are questions to help us
identify your needs.
What data do you want collected?
Every factory floor is different. Some contain a series of assembly cells, while others
contain a single, continuous line. The product could be a simple, high volume piece. While others
produce a product at a lower rate but require a tight level of tolerances. The data needed from
each process can vary. Do you want to monitor the status of your equipment, or the product your
equipment makes? Do you want to know if your equipment is sitting idle or producing product? Or,
do you want to know the results from your test equipment? Would you like to store the test results
with the inspected part's serial number or batch information?
Which equipment do you want monitored?
Again, every factory is different. Some plants are more automated than others. Some have the
latest control platforms running their equipment. Others may have equipment that could almost
be consider obsolete. Some machines use PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), while others may
be nothing more than relay logic. Several types of RCUs exist for this reason.
Who do you want to view the data?
Every company has its own unique characteristics. The product they produce is just one such
charateristic. Their size and number of personnel can be another. Some companies can occupy
a single building, while other have satelite divisions. But, who within the company will be
using the system? Will access be required from a remote site? Does the company have an IT
department? ProTracSys has tried to design the system so that it can be accessable. But, that access can
hit road blocks. ProTracSys will be willing to work with a company to help find and remove
possible road blocks.
